Essence

Essence is a naturally occurring phenomenon that exists everywhere, flowing through all things. Some believe it is responsible for the creation of the universe itself.

Most people live their whole lives without ever seeing Essence directly or understanding what it is. Its effects are felt most at the edges of a Realm, near The Shroud, where it can manifest in strange and dangerous ways. It is also the energy that Travellers are able to harness and manipulate, and certain creatures are said to be born of it or attuned to it in much the same way.
