The Shroud

The Shroud is the name given to the veil of energy that acts as a border between a Realm and the Endless Sea. It is what separates a Realm from the space beyond it.

Appearance

The Shroud's appearance varies significantly from Realm to Realm. It often takes the form of a swirling, glistening curtain of vibrant colours.

Dangers

The Shroud itself poses little direct threat to human life, but the Essence it holds at bay does. A person who comes too close risks being taken or altered by that Essence, and may even be pulled through into the Endless Sea. The environment near the Shroud is often affected in the same way, which can make the edges of a Realm dangerous in their own right.
