Noctivore

Noctivores are creatures born of the Essence of the Endless Sea. Unlike Wraiths, which are all mindless, Noctivores have the potential for speech and reason — and are far more dangerous for it.

Appearance

Those that have been seen are monstrous, their forms built to instill fear. One recorded Noctivore bore two sets of three deep black eyes above a mouth of sharp teeth, with large hooked spikes protruding from its chin. Jagged points ran down both sides of its neck and the length of its back, and its long, slender hands ended in sharp black claws. In rare cases, however, a Noctivore can use its abilities to alter its appearance entirely and blend in among other creatures.

Feeding

Noctivores feed on Essence — that of humans, of other creatures, or wherever it can be found. Some prey on the living through their dreams, drawing Essence from them as they sleep.
